It has long been understood that the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Old Testament, is thoroughly monotheistic in character. This belief in a sole god stands in stark contrast with the worship of manifold deities, male and female, in the rest of the Ancient Near East.

However, intriguing archaeological findings and obscure textual references offer possible traces of a female deity in the religious beliefs and cultic practices in biblical times.

In this compelling livestream talk, Dr Alinda Damsma will introduce you to these fascinating traces of goddess worship in the Bible and discuss its gradual decline.
