October Magic and Folklore for the Thinning of the Veil

Halloween, Samhain, Mischief Night – these are celebrated at the end of October in the UK, Ireland and other countries. Cultures around the world have other seasonal festivals that focus on death. 

In witchcraft, rituals are performed to contact the spirits of the ancestors and honour deities who preside over the realms of those who have passed. It's the time of year when vegetation is dying back, but in the agricultural cycle it's also when seeds start to be sown for next year's crops. This is a time to look to the future as well as think about that which has gone. 

And it is also a time to look at the darker side of life – to face our fears in the company of others and to protect ourselves from harm. 

This insightful livestream talk looks at the customs, traditions, folklore and magic for when the veil between the worlds is thin.
