No matter who we are, we can all succumb to negative thought patterns, insecurities and unhelpful inner narratives. This livestream workshop trains your mind out of these unhelpful habits and into joy and fulfilment.

In this livestream workshop, author and long-time student of Tibetan Buddhism Scott Snibbe combines ancient teachings with modern science to teach 'analytical meditation', training your mind toward kindness, generosity, humour and patience.

Analytical meditation is a sequence that works in much the same way as cognitive behavioural therapy. It goes beyond the calm-inducing practice of mindfulness to actively train the brain toward positive mental habits through easy-to-follow visualisations. You will learn, explore and apply the sequence in this online workshop.

This online workshop explores:

  • Meditation as a transformational tool: Meditation can strengthen the positive qualities we all naturally possess: compassion, kindness, generosity, patience, humour, and finding joy in everyday life.
  • What is the mind? If the mind is our thoughts, then what is it that observes those thoughts? What are we without thoughts? And most importantly, how can we transform our mind toward happiness, presence, and connection?
  • Embracing impermanence: We learn to enjoy life's fleeting pleasures more fully, without fear that they'll end or craving for more.
  • Opening our hearts through equanimity: Our enemy could become a friend. Our friend could become a stranger. And each stranger has the potential to become the dearest person to us on Earth.

Each of us wants to be happy. No-one wants to suffer, and achieving happiness for everyone would make the world a better place. We'll work together to do just that in this livestream workshop.

We will not be recording this workshop. One of the unique aspects of the College's online events is that they are highly interactive. Participants are encouraged to discuss and share with the tutor and the group. These sharings can be very personal, and some may not feel comfortable with them being recorded.
