We all have problems sleeping sometimes. For some of us, it can be an irregular occurrence. For others, it is a chronic problem. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture and it's hard to show up at our best if we don't get enough sleep.
Yoga Nidra could help. It's a form of sleep meditation which harnesses the body's own biological process of going to sleep in order to enter a deep state of meditation.
The hardest thing you have to do in this class is stay awake, which makes it a win-win for those wanting to catch up on lost sleep! Worst case you have a power nap, best case you enter a deep state of meditation and get all the benefits of both sleep and meditation. Best of all, in both cases, you are strengthening the body's falling asleep mechanism and learning how to use Yoga Nidra in your everyday life.
Make yourself comfortable at home, somewhere where you can relax and be undisturbed. You will be lying down for most of this session, experiencing Yoga Nidra, so have your yoga mat or something soft to lie on handy, a cushion or pillow and a blanket.
