Avebury is one of the UK's most ancient and sacred places of pilgrimage. In this special day excursion with College Tutors Gerrie March and Nicoletta Stephens, you are invited to experience it as you may never have before.
As the days warm and lengthen, and we emerge into spring, join us on this magical tour of Avebury's sacred sites, including the Stone Circle, majestic beech trees, Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow. We'll be meditating, scrying, communing with and exploring the energetic signatures of this sacred landscapes. Join us for a wonderful day out!
Communing with Avebury Stone Circle
Set in the picturesque landscapes of Wiltshire, the World Heritage Site of Avebury is the largest prehistoric stone circle in the world. Its great monoliths are yours to touch, lean on, hug and tune into, and we'll do just that during our day together. No excursion with The College of Psychic Studies would be complete without some deep spiritual work; our activities include scrying on the surface of the stones and a guided meditation within the circle.
A sacred tie to the land
Among the branches and roots of the ancient beech trees on the site, you'll notice bright ribbons, carrying petitions for health and happiness as well as offerings to the spirits of these ancient lands and trees. We will tie our own ribbon, connecting to our ancestors who also made pilgrimages to these sacred sites. Gerrie will have ribbons for you to use, or you are welcome to bring your own.
The mysterious Silbury Hill
Avebury stone circle is part of a larger landscape containing the mysterious Silbury Hill. This is perhaps the most enigmatic of all megalithic constructions in Europe. Completed in around 2400 BCE, it apparently contains no burials. Its purpose is still a mystery, and Gerrie invites you to consider possible explanations.
A meditation at West Kennet Long Barrow
A series of stone chambers beneath an earthen bank can be found at West Kennet Long Barrow, south of Silbury Hill. Although human remains were found, the site was almost certainly the focus of other rituals that were important to those who built them. Some believe the barrow to be a door to another world; a liminal place of intense spiritual awareness. Nicoletta will lead you on a guided meditation at the site.
Contemplation & exploration
There will be some free time during the day to explore or contemplate, as you wish. You may want to visit the Alexander Keiller Museum, Avebury Manor and Gardens or St James' Church (entrance fees not included).
Book now to immerse in the beautiful landscapes and sacred sites of Wiltshire, experiencing them in a profound, uplifting and inspirational way with like-hearted friends.
