Are you our new part-time receptionist / admin support?

The College is seeking a proactive and friendly part-time Receptionist/Admin Support to help with the running of its in-person programme. An interest and appreciation for spirituality and esoteric studies is very important, as well as a helpful demeanour and enthusiastic attitude.

It is essential that candidates are able to work as/when shift work is needed, as hours will vary each week according to the ever-changing and ever-growing in-house programme. Being able to work weekends (sometimes both Saturdays and Sundays in succession) is vital, as well as weekday evenings and potentially some weekday daytimes. This role would be ideal for those who have other flexible commitments that will accommodate a zero-hours contract, and who are adaptable to ad hoc shift patterns.

The role will involve a high level of important engagement with College members, customers and tutors, as well as physical activity and some moderate lifting around the building. Going the extra mile to ensure that all requirements relating to events are dealt with satisfactorily is key. The role will also require overseeing general enquiries and College shop transactions.

Tasks & responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the building
  • Welcoming College tutors and students for in-house events and communicating event information in a friendly manner
  • Physically setting up College rooms in a timely and well-organised fashion ready for events
  • Liaising with tutors in advance of events to ascertain all requirements needed on the day, including the printing of any handouts
  • Navigating the College's CRM to print off student registers for events; making sure to keep an accurate register for all events on the day
  • Confidently dealing with all student enquiries relating to the College, its extensive programme, library, and shop
  • Overseeing event bookings and taking customer payments via the College's CRM
  • Making sure the College shop and kitchen is well-stocked and always kept clean and tidy; taking incentive to notify the College admin team when any stock levels are low
  • Emailing and communicating effectively with other College team members regarding customer requests which can't be dealt with in person
  • Occasionally setting up the College's sound and microphone system for in-person events, and learning to navigate this technology with confidence
  • Miscellaneous administrational work to support the College' full-time team

Job Type: Zero hours contract

Salary: £14.50 per hour on Mondays-Saturdays; £15.50 per hour on Sundays

Expected hours: 5–20 hours per week

Please send your CV and a covering letter (the latter no more than a page) detailing why you would like to work specifically at the College and the reasons why this role is suited to you.

Email these before 31 March 2024 to admin@collegeofpsychicstudies.co.uk with 'Part-Time Receptionist Application' in the subject line.

The College is committed to equal opportunities in employment, and so warmly welcomes candidates of all backgrounds and diversities to apply.
